Budgie Info is a humble attempt to give accurate, but reasonable guidelines to budgie ownership. Pragmatism, not absolutes, rules the information here. The reasons for this are many, but they boil down to the internet is concentrated around Meta, Reddit, X (formerly Twitter), Google and other large corporations. Budgie spaces on Reddit, Meta, and Youtube are often controlled by domineering people who either: want to sell you products, or derive latent pleasure from having power over a community, using threats, intimidation and doxxing to defend that position. I go into this more on the page regarding bad information, but suffice to say, these people are crazy, unhinged, often racist, and when they're of the product selling type, predatory. You do not need to be an expert to own budgies. You do not need to have massive amounts of money. But you need to be responsible. But that's overstated and overexpected by many of these people.
I talk about the good, bad, and ugly here. There is no perfect pet, no perfect animal for everyone. The owning of small, colorful birds of the parrot family are a sacrifice many may not be willng to make. But I am here because I love these animals and have watched them be born, live, and die. And it is both good and bad, at times. But I love my birds.
